Description
Topic: Emerging weight loss therapies and potential effects on body composition and fracture risk Learning Objectives: 1. Recognize the impact of pharmacologically induced weight loss on body composition, with a focus on the potential risks of significant lean mass losses in vulnerable populations. 2. Develop understanding of current evidence regarding the skeletal consequences of intensive weight management on bone mineral density, bone microarchitecture, and fracture risk. 3. Apply practical, evidence-informed strategies to preserve muscle and bone during weight loss therapy, alongside approaches to identifying individuals who require closer musculoskeletal surveillance.
Speakers: David Scott PhD, BHM, FASBMR., and Jakub Mesinovic, PhD
